First sociology of the mentally and physically challenged it made me angry, then it made me decide to sociology of the mentally and physically challenged be kinder to myself as an on-and-off fat person. I fear that most of the stellar reviews are from skinny people who deep down loved pitying [and feeling superior to] the little fat girl who hates herself. And I did feel sorry for this woman as a child. Her mother and grandmother were truly from hell. |

I'm usually okay with sad, especially when there's a great lesson or a happy ending. I picked this book up because I thought I would get a better understanding of how very overweight people feel and how they live there lives day to day. I was way off on that - what I got was a terribly depressing detailed account of a horribly abusive and neglectful childhood. |
