Almost every concept that she explained, I ended up teen boobs agreeing with (you were pretty much up teen boobs against teen boobs a wall at that point), though some had me astounded at how much time and money we're willing to spend to get some people's approval--and it may be all for nothing, as she duly noted time and time again. After all the stints she tried out, ending with the last, very expensive stint losing only two pounds--I don't blame her at all. I would've just learned to live with being fat too--and letting everyone know it, regardless of what they think. She's good and courageous, and God bless her. |

| Some of us are fat, some of us are thin, and for almost all of us our size is not a lifestyle choice. Shanker does her readers a disservice by overgeneralizing on this issue. Overall I'd say that "The Fat Girl's Guide to Life" is a decent book to introduce someone to size acceptance for the first time. It's a fairly good combination of information, opinion, light and dark tones. But I would say that eating disorders general as soon as you've read eating disorders general it you should go right out and immediately buy Fraser's "Losing It" to get some scientific information on dieting and body size, and Marilyn Wann's "Fat! So?" to get a more optimistic take on size acceptance and living a full life in a full body. Was this review helpful to you?
