Olivia greatly disappointed Maggie and certainly digital camera wasn't the friend that she should have been. But even through all her insecurity and self-absorption (and what bride isn't?), Olivia still cared greatly for Maggie. Olivia had moved to another stage in her life and had become a different person and I don't think that Olivia digital camera had the confidence she needed to "come out" as a former fat person. Olivia was wrong. But what Maggie did, knowing how much it would hurt her former friend, was truly malicious. I mean, she absolutely ruined what is usually the biggest event in a woman's life. It was unworthy of her. The best thing for Maggie to have done was to confront Olivia about her actions WHILE they were happening OR to refuse to attend the wedding. Maggie should have stuck up for HERSELF instead of expecting Olivia to jump to her defense when Olivia didn't even have the courage to stand up for HERSELF. |

| They berate that they are judged on their overweight appearances, yet the main characters THEMSELVES are drawn only to "attractive" men! It epitomizes everything they are denouncing! Throughout this cards book, constant references and put-downs are made cards concerning the unattractive and geekish guys they previously dated. "Conversations..." is a WONDERFUL book that offers a terrific and funny insight into the mindset of overweight individuals. I cards think that it should be "mandatory reading" for every Personal Trainer out there! I know that I will certainly be giving my PT a copy! What I liked best about this book was the truths that it held. There is a moment that should shine out and that is that each of us DESERVES to live the best life possible. And sometimes that "Best Life" takes a lot of work and a lot of risks. SPOILER....What truly made me sad about this novel, however, was the vindictiveness of Maggie in showing Olivia's "fat pictures" during the wedding festivities. |
