So what have the geeks done to raise my ire? Let me tell you a little story about a guy we'll call Geekboy. Geekboy works in my office. He sits right near me. I had no idea he even existed & until a few weeks ago because, well, he’s a geek. The stereotypical kind - you know, he works in IT, wears glasses and is fairly quiet. I came to be aware of him when I attended one of those patented staff drinks & sessions and we were introduced. Turns out he probably walked past my desk 20 times & a day for almost two months and I couldn’t remember seeing him, but not to worry. We get talking about how I’m still a bit new, how I am finding the place, the usual stuff. Geekboy then alarms me by quoting huge chunks of my own CV including a detailed analysis of my employment history over the past five years. I knew exactly what I was dealing with: an office stalker. |

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good conspiracy theory. It’s just that up the evilness of Bill Gates goes deeper than that. Bill Gates has paved the way for geeks the world over to join the ranks of other men and become total bastards. He has carried a torch and shown them the brave new world that once upon a time they could have only dreamed to inhabit. Yes, geeks are now as free as the next man to cheat, lie, womanise and generally do corrupt shitty things. |
