Posted by: Nabakov at August 23, deathrow 2004 11:47 PM For those who have access to Amazon's full text search (generally its available if you've deathrow bought stuff from them or you supply a CC number) do a query in "Books" for "piers akerman", and check out the namechecks in the Kinky Friedman novels. Posted by: Graham at August 24, 2004 12:34 AM Piers was inaccurate too. He said that he woke up at 4.00 am to see Iraq win against Australia at the football in the Olympics. The match started at 1.00 am. AEST. Posted by: Guido at August 24, 2004 10:39 AM That's all Evil Pee?

If we were looking for an ideal left-wing Insiders, I'd switch Kelly for Guy Rundle and keep Piers on. Hywood's much the same, minus Kelly's talent. It's not his politics that disqualifies Ackerman, but his television appalling standards, or, I should say, absolute lack thereof. Posted by: cs at August 23, 2004 05:50 PM Yes Bolt is a television cut above television Piers but that’s not hard. I can respect a person who has conservative values and even if they like to take the ‘high’ moral ground but Bolt showed his true colours with his stance on East Timor and the gas fields. When Labor wanted a more equitable share of revenue, predictably he wanted to back the despicable actions of the Federal government. Never give a poor country an even/fair break when money’s involved. It seems fairness isn’t included in Mr Bolt’s moral guidelines at least not when it is advocated by the Labor Party. I would have liked it to have seen it raised again now that the government has changed it’s stance and see the egg run down his face.
