The retired Newcastle Five/Eighth and brother of the legendary Andrew Johns didn't really make much sense as a choice for new member of the panel... Until we got a taste of his work. The introduction of his two alter-egos: "Reg Regan" - A beer guzzling, foul wireless mouthed fan wireless of Rugby League (or more importantly, fighting in League). He is about as un-PC as you can get, but also about as 'Aussie-bloke' as you can get, he is a great character. And "Trent the flight steward" - An openly homosexual character that forces himself upon practically every male he comes into contact with. |

Paul Vautin is as unprofessional as ever, australia the same jokes are recycled every australia year, and the interviews are pathetically stupid. But I guess this is the charm of the show, and you can't really expect an enthralling interview with a footballer now can you? But eight years is a long time to australia survive under the axe of Kerry Packer, so they must be doing something right. I have never been a huge fan of the show, I don't watch it all the time, but I have still managed to follow it's progress over the years (or lack thereof). There was a point maybe four or five years ago when the show just seemed like an excuse for the boys to dress up in womens clothing, they were an absolute joke and the whole project was on a downward spiral towards cancellation. |
