She grew up in the postwar years, and got bounced around a lot. Her parents split, she lived with her grammy, lived with her mom, then back to her grammy, then grammy gets seriously ill so she goes to live with her uncle for awhile. She doesn't even see her dad until she's an adult.Her grandmother is fat, crude, angry, a tough farm woman, and Moore gains a lot of weight that summer with her. Her mom is outraged when she sees her again and puts her on strict diets, belittles her and even beats her.It's
