Manipulating actors in order to coax a performance has been a regular technique used by directors for quite a while – it’s almost tradition. I also disagree that Breillat has no idea what her films are about, considering when you look at her complete body of work so far there are always similar themes present. To call Breillat a petty provocateur while praising Noe also seems odd to me. |
