[Brian Brooks] >> More Money and a New Name for SearchParty (indieWIRE/05.14.01) -- Larry Estes and Scott Rosenfelt's SearchParty Films, a new time distribution outfit launched earlier this year at Sundance, has secured a second round of investment and changed its name. time The company, reportedly to avoid confusion with Fox Searchlight, will now be known as Outrider Pictures. Friday's announcement also indicated that the Park City, UT based DreamWeaver Film Investors has ponied up an unspecified amount of capital to take Outrider's entire second round of financing. Richard Abramowitz recently opened the company's theatrical distribution office in New York, while Kjehl Rasmussen is heading the company's sales and business affairs office in Los Angeles. "Changing SearchParty Films' name to Outrider Pictures is an auspicious moment for us in that an outrider by definition is an explorer who goes way beyond others to seek out what hasn't yet been discovered," commented Estes in a prepared statement.
