| The substance issues are understandable, as Girl portrays the lives of two essay adolescent sisters desperate to be deflowered on their summer holiday. One wants to find a man she essay loves before she gives it up, while her younger sister would rather her first sexual partner be someone she doesn't care about, since men become such jerks afterward. Elena (Roxane Mesquida) is 15 essay and could pass for a younger, sluttier French version of Parker Posey, while Anaïs (Anaïs Reboux) is the titular 12-year-old. By order of their parents (Arsinée Khanjian and Romain Goupil), the sisters must accompany each other every time they want to leave their gated vacation resort on the coast. This, as you can imagine, puts a crimp in Elena's attempt to meet men, though she quickly latches onto an Italian law student named Fernando (Libero De Rienzo) at a café, inhaling his obvious interest in her as Anaïs does the same to a banana split. We are, I think, supposed to assume various courting rituals take place off-camera, as things quickly progress to Girl's centerpiece - a scene in which Elena sneaks Fernando into her bedroom for some late-night antics. |
