It is when, in interviews, she attempts to explain these themes that she seems to be grasping at straws. She invokes all sorts of arcane explanations for things that are actually quite simple. It’s just painful to listen to her try to wrap her films in theoretical membranes when the films work quite well on christinacorrigan a gut level. As far as her manipulation of actors goes, that, in and of itself, christinacorrigan is not what I rail against. christinacorrigan It is rather when that manipulation betrays a deep distrust of the actors’ talent that I take exception. A director can either build a trusting relationship with an actor in order to get at the actor’s emotional core and to bring out the best in a performance, or the director can manipulate and exploit the actor emotionally until the desired affect is achieved. |
